At just 21 years old, Jerónimo Turek Trosman (Momo), is already one of Buenos Aires’s fastest up and coming DJs. But don’t let his young age fool you. He has already played at the coolest parties and clubs in Buenos Aires and Punta del Este, including High on the Roof, Pink is Punk, Faena Hotel, and Isabel. He has also warmed up for Seth Troxler in Milan and will be playing shows in Barcelona and Madrid in May.
We spoke with Jerónimo about how he got his start in DJing, his favorite songs, and the best show he’s played so far.
How did your interest in DJing arise and when did you get started?
I always had a strong connection with music and when I turned 12 I asked my Dad to help buy me a synth amplifier and some speakers so that I could listen to sounds at a better quality. From that time on, I spent listening to music at full volume and at 18 years old I started playing in some parties. It went on from there, and it was without a doubt the thing that I most enjoyed doing.
How would you define your style and how do you choose the music for your sets?
At this moment I would define my style as underground house, but basically I listen to everything and I’m not defined by any one genre, I just play what I like.
What was the most memorable show that you’ve played?
Creamfields 2012 was incredible, it was full of very fun friends and the sound was really good. Amazing.
What are some of the differences between playing in Buenos Aires and Europe?
Europe is contaminated with good music and there is lots of competition among DJs, which leads to the final musical product being better since it has to be as unpredictable and unique as possible. On the other hand, any good medium sized club has very good sound and that helps a lot.
Do you have a fetish with a particular song that you always play?
Tides (C’s Movement Number 1 – Carl Craig Remix) – Beanfield
What are your current top 5 songs?
